The inaugural meeting of the Learning Sciences reading group was held Friday, August 29. The group of 7 participants discussed A Comparison of Lecture-Based and Challenge-Based Learning in a Workplace Setting: Course Designs, Patterns of Interactivity, and Learning Outcomes. The group will meet biweekly to discuss learning sciences literature that would be useful in our CS education research on methodologies such as lightweight teams, flipped classrooms, affinity groups, and gamification. A main goal of this reading group is to help CCI faculty and students develop a 'learning sciences vocabulary'. The next meeting will be Friday, September 12, at 1pm in Room 309. Please let Celine Latulipe know if you are interested in being included on the mailing list.
